The Australasian Society for Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering (ASBTE) 29th Annual Conference was held in Brisbane, Australia on 22-24 April 2025. This 3-day conference saw the opportunity for the Gelmi Group to network and present research (poster/presentation formats) to other HDR students, ECRs and academics alongside the opportunity to network with leading industry partners in the area of biomaterials and tissue engineering.

Four members of the Gelmi Group showcased their current research projects during the poster presentation session:

Luke – Improved Characterisation of In Vitro Electrical Stimulation Device for Enhancing Osteogenesis in MSCs

Chayla – Biomechanical Characterisation of Stem Cells on Hydrogels

Veronica – An Analysis of the Impact of Electrical Stimulation on Stem Cell Proliferation

Daniel – Polycrystalline Diamond in the World of Dental Implants

Representing the Gelmi Group with a 12-minute oral presentation, Mercy also presented her work titled ‘Bioengineered Anticoagulant Protein-Coated Coronary Stents for Promoting Endothelialization and Reducing Restenosis’.

We are extremely grateful to be given the opportunity by both Amy and the ASBTE to attend this conference and immerse ourselves in the ASBTE community. Until the next one! #AdelaideASBTE26
