ASBTE 2024 Vic Regional Showcase
On Friday 22nd November, the Gelmi Group headed out to University of Melbourne to attend the ASBTE (Australasian Society of Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering) Vic Regional Showcase, to present their research and network with other PhD students and ECRs in the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering. The Gelmi Group would like to applaud and congratulate everyone from all universities who presented their work on Friday, but most importantly, to the members of the Gelmi Group who presented – Luke, Veronica, Mercy, Chayla and Mehrnoosh. A mixture of 5-minute Rapid Fire Presentations and 10-minute Oral Presentations were presented throughout the course of the showcase.
Luke (5-minute Rapid Fire) presented his work on ‘Improved characterisation of in vitro electrical stimulation devices for enhancing osteogenic differentiation in mesenchymal stem cells’
Veronica (5-minute Rapid Fire) showcased her work titled ‘Investigating the impact of electrical stimulation on stem cells’. Mercy (5-minute Rapid Fire) outlined her research titled ‘Bioengineered Anticoagulant Protein-Coated Coronary Stents for Promoting Endothelialisation and Reducing Restenosis’.
Chayla (5-minute Rapid Fire) introduced her current research on the ‘Biomechanical Characterisation of Stem Cells on Hydrogels’.
Mehrnoosh (10-minute Oral Presentation) demonstrated her work on ‘Enhancing Osteogenic Differentiation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells via Nanomaterials and Electrical Stimulation in Tissue Engineering’.
